By Jove I Think She's Got It!

Dear Sophie,
You've had about three months of "guide dog" lessons and experience now, and I do believe you've got it! Today after church, you took me zig-zagging through the parking lot before we straightened out. I asked Mom, "Did she just take me through a bunch of parked cars?" Indeed you did! You've been maneuvering around all the objects in our path, stopping at curbs and steps, and you've even exhibited intelligent disobedience on two potentially dangerous occasions. Every time we're out together you amaze me with something new. Of course most problems we've encountered have been mine, as usual; it's pretty hard to let go and let you be my eyes, but I'm still pretty new at this so just patient with me and I'll learn. There seems no end in immediate sight to this eye disease so I'm especially blessed to have your two good eyes looking out for me. Thanks for being here, Sophie! I love you!
