Here We Go Again
Dear Sophie,
I can't believe we're doing this again, this time heading up to Vegas to see your Uncle Tom and Auntie Carol and the Pud (cutest little gray poodle you ever saw). It'll be different this time, Soph ... so many people, mostly strangers, and lights and glitter and noise! It'll be different for me too ... we haven't stayed in a hotel since you were a puppy. This will be interesting!
Heat Wave, 7-24-06
Dear Sophie,
I can't believe your spunk. Because of the blistering heat wave, and because you worked so hard in Montana, I tried to give you a few days off to rest. And what happened? 'Daddy' and I were on our way out the door to run a few errands when we noticed your paws up on the chair to receive your harness and leash! What could I say? Of course we took you with us.
Montana Paradise
Dear Sophie,
It had to happen sooner or later ... your first airplane ride!! I was nervous as I could be, but you behaved beautifully and I couldn't have been more proud of you. Nothing about the flight phased you at all, not the engine noises, the climb, the turbulence, or the bump of the landing. You did great, baby!!
You truly were in your glory ... running, jumping, playing, and breathing clean, although "seasonably warm" air. It just figured, didn't it ... that we'd bring all our nasty desert heat with us? But it didn't slow you down much; it bothered me more than it did you. Not much of anything bothered you at all!
You were so excited to have another dog to play with;that's a pretty rare treat! And you remembered Addie from when you were a puppy; of course that wasn't all that long ago.You adored every minute you could get of rough and tumble with her, but when your harness went on and we went out, you were all business, like you instinctively knew when to "cool it". I was amazed!
What a great time we had meeting up with our Happy Tails teacher Kristi. Thank goodness you behaved yourself almost perfectly! Not that I was all that surprised; you seem to have that out-in-public thing down solid.Wasn't it fun watching Addie in the Read To Rover program at the library? You really weren't supposed to get read to too, but one little boy just couldn't resist. I think you enjoy being read to. Maybe I'll just have to try it myself.
You were such a good girl, Sophie, even as the pilgrimage brought out the puppy in you. So much to take in and too little time to play with it all! Too soon to suit either one of us, you were back in your own chair to sleep it all away.
